
Red Hat has pulled out of the bag some glowingly healthy financial results, as Linux sales continue to flourish.
Subscriptions to Linux software peaked at $109.2m for the second quarter, up 29% over the same period last year. Overall, the company reported revenues of $127.3m, up 28% on last year and 7% on the previous quarter. But it's not all good news...
The only blot on its perfect copybook was the sales performance of JBoss middleware, which failed to live up to expectations.
But the company is taking practical steps to beef up its non-Linux business and prove it’s more than a one trick pony. CEO Matthew Szulik has announced the firm is reorganising into three lines of business: infrastructure (incorporating Enterprise Linux), middleware (JBoss) and online services.
