I already mentioned this in an update to the original story, but I think it's worth highlighting that xTuple, the company formerly known as OpenMFG, has adopted the recently OSI-approved CPAL license for its new PostBooks software.
As the company notes the adoption of CPAL "grows from a series of consultations between xTuple and open source community leaders over the past few weeks".
The company had originally planned to use its own xTuple Public License, modelled on SugarCRM's Mozilla + Attribution license and was criticized for that approach by Matt Asay, for one.
The fact that SugarCRM has abandoned that license for the GPLv3 and the CPAL was approved by the OSI just as xTuple introduced its license led me to predict that it might find the CPAL a more appropriate choice.
As the company's CEO, Ned Lilly, pointed out, that is precisely what it has done.
