
I previously noted Unisys's plan to rapidly expand its open source services and consulting business. Today the company announced an expansion of its offerings thanks to an alliance with JasperSoft.
The deal sees Unisys delivering JasperSoft-certified consulting services around the company's reporting and data analysis functionality.
Unisys already has relationships with Red Hat, Novell, MySQL, and Red Hat's JBoss division, as well as enterprise content management vendor Alfresco and systems management player GroundWork Open Source.
Earlier this year, the company's head of enterprise open source, Hans Sparkes, said said Unisys is expecting to grow the business to be the same size that its Microsoft business is today in half the time.
"We aim to grow the business so that in three years it will be the same as the Microsoft business is today," said Sparkes, noting that the Microsoft business had taken six years to get where it is today.
Despite here in Europe UNISYS has a long story - starting in 2001 when Unisys Belgium conducted the 'Study into the Use of Open Source Software in the Public Sector' - QualiPSo EC financed project is not mentioning them among big IT firms with an Open Source Strategy.
