Red Hat Czechs in
January 09, 2007

Red Hat is investing 1.3m euros in opening a development centre in Brno in the Czech Republic, according to CzechInvest.

Despite its low number of vowels Brno is a very pleasant city and was, coincidentally, the location for my stag do (bachelor party).

If extraordinarily cheap lager, good food, bizarre desserts, strange tequila shot combinations, friendly locals and a warm welcome is what Red Hat had in mind, then it has chosen the right place.

If I was choosing a location for a development centre, those are roughly the criteria I'd use.

"We have chosen Brno because of the rich talent base,” said Paul Cormier, executive vice president of engineering at Red Hat. “We are excited about the great potential for innovation and collaboration as this team integrates with our global engineering organization.”

Oh yeah, that too.
